Corrections and clarifications

The National Agro Foundation was founded by C. Subramaniam, who was State and Union Minister and Governor, and not S. Subramanian as said in a report “Deora hands over cheque to National Agro Foundation” (November 7, 2007). He was awarded the Bharat Ratna.

In a report “Colombo vows to target LTTE leaders” (November 6, 2007), the strapline was “Thamilchelvan being falsely portrayed as a man of peace: Prime Minister”. It was an error. It should have been attributed to the Sri Lankan Defence spokesperson and Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.

A sentence in the last paragraph of a report “Tale of high-tech heart scans” (“Newscape” page, November 7, 2007) was: “The new scans cost in the U.S. under $1,000 (about Rs. 4,000); angiograms from catheterisation cost $2,500 (about Rs. 10,000) or more.” It should have been Rs. 40,000 and Rs. 1,00,000.

In a report “Hyderabad crushes Kerala” (“Sport”, November 4, 2007), the first paragraph said that Hyderabad crushed Kerala by 10 wickets while the scoreboard gave it as 31 for 3, making it a seven wicket victory. The scorecard should have read 31 for no loss. (The report was the South Zone under-15 cricket tournament at the LNCPE ground, Thiruvananthapuram.)
