Bank officers’ meet on November 10, 11

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The seventh State conference of the All India Bank Officers’ Confederation will be held in Kochi on November 10 and 11. As part of the conference, a rally and a public meeting will be organised on November 10.

The rally will start from the Marine Drive grounds at 4.30 p.m. Finance Minister T. M. Thomas Isaac will inaugurate the public meeting at the Fine Arts hall at 5.30 p.m. The delegates’ session will be held at Hotel Presidency on November 11.

Vice-President of the AIBOC P. V. Mathew and Chairman of the reception committee V. K. Prasad said the conference was being held at a crucial juncture for the banking industry. The threat of mergers and acquisitions still loomed large over the industry, they said.

They said bank managements were unleashing attacks on trade unions and union leaders. They also alleged that industrial giants and corporates were trying to wield control over private sector banks through unethical means.
