Bhatt bags title

BANGALORE: Arvind Bhatt continued his successful run by winning the Jordan Open badminton tournament in Amman on Tuesday. He beat the former England No.1 Amir Ghaffar 21-18, 21-14 in the final.

En route to the title, Bhatt beat top seed Pablo Abian of Spain 21-7, 21-19 in the semifinals and humbled fourth-seeded Alexandre Paxaoi of Portugal 21-17, 21-16 in the quarterfinals.

Commenting on Bhatt’s successful return to form, coach Vimal Kumar said, “I am happy to note his progress. He did the right thing by playing in smaller tournaments to regain his confidence.” — Special Correspondent
