New NIMHANS chief yet to be named

Bangalore: The National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), the deemed university based in Bangalore, is currently without a director.
D. Nagaraja, who took over as head of the institute on November 6, 2002, has completed his five-year term. According to institute sources, the NIMHANS Board of Management has to constitute a search and selection committee to name the successor before the end of a director’s term. This has not been done. senior faculty member wrote to the Registrar seeking information on the status of the director’s post and if anyone had been named to head the institute. The Registrar in her written response said that a copy of the letter had been faxed to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for “necessary action”.
