Commonwealth programme along with coir fair

KOCHI: The seventh Commonwealth India Small Business Competitiveness Development Programme involving business delegates from the Commonwealth countries will be synchronized with the India International Coir Fair-2007 (IICF) being organised here from December 7 to 11.

The Commonwealth India Small Business Competitiveness Development Programme offers a platform for cooperation among these countries in capacity building and sharing expertise and experiences. The 6th Commonwealth India Small Business Competitiveness Development Programme was held over several venues — Kochi, Alappuzha and Kalady in March and saw several agreements being signed for cooperation in the fields of small and medium enterprises, including in rice processing and natural fibre products.

IICF-2007 has been envisaged as a showcase for the Indian coir industry and 125 importers from the U.S., the U.K., France, Germany, Japan, Korea, Mexico, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Poland, Dubai, Australia and the Netherlands are expected to attend the event. An international seminar targeted at the coir professionals, technologists, businessmen, buyers, sellers and manufacturers, will be part of the IICF.

An interactive session has been designed, which will be a forum for exploring new investment opportunities, joint ventures and the potential that can be tapped from domestic market.
