Play focuses on deprived kids

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A musical play, “Sadak Ke Us Paar”, was presented at Kamani Auditorium here on Wednesday by about 200 students of Delhi Public School R.K. Puram and Anubhav Shiksha Kendra, a school for the underprivileged children. Conceptualised and developed by Shayama Chona, Principal of DPS R.K.Puram, the play was directed by Vaswati Mishra, a renowned Kathak exponent. The 90-minute production was witnessed by Delhi’s Lieutenant-Governor Tejendra Khanna, Education Minister Arvinder Singh and ICCR Director-General Pavan K. Varma.

The play portrayed the hopes, dreams and aspirations of underprivileged children who mostly spend their lives on the streets and traffic intersections.

“It is an attempt to sensitise our society about the plight of these unfortunate children,” said Dr. Chona.
