Groups clash

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A young man allegedly opened fire during a clash between two groups near the Commerce Department of Jamia Millia Islamia here on Wednesday. While no one was injured in the firing, the young man and his accomplices were beaten up by members of the rival group.

It all happened in the afternoon when Harish, Akram, Faizi and Atiq -- some of who are said to be former students of the university -- got into an altercation with another former student. One of them then opened fire, following which the four were beaten up by the rival group.

The police have registered a case and detained Akram.
