Woman dies in accident

PUDUCHERRY: A 60-year-old woman died in a road accident near the NCC office in Lawspet near here son Tuesday evening.

The deceased, Ashok Kumari, who was a resident of Lawspet, was on her evening walk along with three of her friends when a government car came in the wrong direction and hit her.

According to police, three others also sustained minor injuries.

Police said the driver of the car, a senior official with the Slum Clearance Board, was arrested on charges of negligent and rash driving.
