NEW DELHI: Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss on Wednesday said he had nothing personal against All-India Institute of Medical Sciences Director P. Venugopal, but maintained that he was concerned that someone who was clueless about administrative matters was heading the premier institution. In an informal interaction with mediapersons here, Dr. Ramadoss sought to play down his differences with the AIIMS Director. “I have no ego problems with Dr. Venugopal. As Union Health Minister, I have nearly 60 such institutions under me.” Acknowledging that Dr. Venugopal was one of the most prominent doctors of the country, the Minister said he was, however, a poor administrator. “Administratively, he hasn’t got a clue to what is happening in AIIMS. It is being run by a coterie of five or six junior doctors.” However, Dr. Ramadoss refused to dwell on the issue further, stating the Prime Minister and the Cabinet were seized of the matter.
