Agencies not to cover Australia- Sri Lanka Test

Brisbane: International news agencies say there will be no coverage of the first Test between Australia and Sri Lanka because of a dispute with Cricket Australia over terms and conditions required for media accreditation.

Dave Tomlin, the associate general counsel for news for The Associated Press, said that following a conference call on Tuesday, each of the news agencies — AP, Reuters and Agence France-Presse — agreed that they would immediately advise their clients and subscribers that they plan no coverage of the first Test which begins on Thursday.

Tomlin said among the main issues are Cricket Australia’s insistence that agencies pay CA for the right to license photos of CA events to editorial users, rights to distribute news and images from CA events to online news publishers, and the assertion by CA of an intellectual property interest in stories and images produced by journalists at CA events. — AP
