It is Asia’s largest techno-management festival The event includes workshops and lectures BANGALORE: Every spring, Kharagpur in West Bengal becomes the venue of a nation-wide congregation. A large number of students make it annually from across the country to “celebrate knowledge” at Kshitij, Asia’s largest techno-management festival organised by IIT Kharagpur. The festival, the largest of its kind in Asia in terms of participation, prizes, judges and guests, is a platform for students across streams and departments to exhibit their knowledge and skills in the fields of technology and management. Last year, the festival saw over 15,000 registered participants with prizes worth Rs. 25 lakh given away. The event included workshops and lectures by eminent personalities such as Nobel laureate Paul Crutzen, ad guru Alyque Padamsee, MP K. Kasturirangan and astronaut Rakesh Sharma. PopularThe events, 30 technical and 15 managerial, are popular with participants. They include B-plan: where students submit a business plan; OpenSoft: an open ended software design competition where you can submit any software that you have made; Tycoons: a business competition that tests your entrepreneurial flair; Woodstock: a real stock exchange game that is played with virtual money; and Forex: an online currency game. “Kshitij 2008”, scheduled between January 31 and February 3, is “going to be bigger and better than before,” say the organisers. DeadlineThe deadline for the first round submissions for Kshitij 2008 is December 16. For further details on the event, contact Team Kshitij at kshitij@hijli.iitkgp.ernet.in or visit their website: http://www.ktj.in.
