Scheme for loan defaulters extended

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has ordered extension up to December 31 of the recovery- linked one-time settlement scheme for both short-term and long-term loans. Earlier these schemes were to expire on September 30.

Mr. Hooda had announced the scheme on February 25 at Sirsa for farmers, rural craftsmen and petty shopkeepers who had taken loans from mini-banks and were defaulters as on March 31, 2006, stipulating that their entire interest and loan would be waived provided they deposit the principal amount of loan before September 30.
