PUDUCHERRY: Burglars broke into two houses in Lawspet on Thursday night and decamped with several sovereigns of gold jewellery. According to the police, burglars broke into the house of a senior government official when he and his family were away in Tagore Nagar. About 14 sovereigns of gold were found missing. In another incident, burglars broke into a house in Avvai Nagar when the occupants were away on holiday. Police said the incident was reported to them by one of the relatives when he found the front doors open. The value of the stolen valuables could be known only after the family returned, the police said.
