This Day That Age
At the conclusion of the Handicrafts Week, the Department of Industries and Commerce convened a conference of artisans in Hyderabad on November 8 to discuss the problems facing them and adopted a number of resolutions. Mr. N. Sanjiva Reddi, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, said that artisans should produce material for consumption in foreign countries. There was a move for the grant of interest free loans to handicrafts co-operative societies, and also a request to the authorities concerned to sanction several schemes relating to the welfare of handicrafts workers. The artisans have urged the All India Handicrafts Board to continue the rebate on the sale of handicraft products throughout the year.
