Abhijith hits century

Bangalore: Abhijith Sudarshan’s 104 (retd. hurt) guided Vice President’s XI to a four-wicket victory over President’s XI in a KSCA under-17 inter-district tournament match here on Friday.

President’s XI scored 261 for five in 50 overs and Vice President’s XI snatched a last-ball victory, scoring 262 for six in 50 overs.

The scores: President’s XI 261 for five in 50 overs (S. Manish 77 n.o., Darshan Ponappa 69, Dinesh Dorwankar 60) lost to Vice President’s XI 262 for six in 50 overs (Abhijith Sudarshan 104 retd., G.S. Chiranjeevi 78).

Bangalore City XI 238 for four in 50 overs (K. Shashindra 102 retd., Nihal Unni 62 retd.) bt Secretary’s XI 178 in 44.4 overs (S. Rohith four for 23).

Bangalore Zone 268 for six in 45 overs (Mayank Agarwal 75, Muniraju 68 n.o., Prateek 43) bt Combined City XI 216 for seven in 45 overs (Bharath A. Jain 40).

Combined City XI 222 for nine in 50 overs (Arjun Gowda 72, Goutham Vishvesh 52, S. Rohith six for 61) lost to Bangalore City XI 223 for four in 38.2 overs (Nihal Unni 91, B. Dhanush 60 n.o.).

Secretary’s XI 197 for nine in 50 overs (Liyan Khan 71, Shariq Parveen 55, L. Praveen four for 48) lost to Vice President’s XI 199 for seven in 44.1 overs (Sagar 62).

President’s XI 158 in 49.1 overs (Naresh Reddy 41, Bharath Kondajji four for 33) bt Bangalore Zone XI 143 in 43.5 overs (Prithvi Ramesh 51).

Vijaya Bank posts wins

Vijaya Bank notched up two straight wins in the State ‘A’ division basketball league championship for the N.C. Parappa Cup at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium courts here on Friday.

Vijaya Bank outclassed Sports Hostel 74-43 after leading 38-16 at the break and later, it defeated Beagles 53-24.

Sunil to lead

Sunil N. Raju will lead Karnataka in the Cooch Behar Trophy under-19 tournament at Gwalior and Indore from November 20 to December 17.

Hat-trick by Madhesh

Madhesh’s hat-trick (17th, 40th and 58th mins.) helped HMT defeat SWRI 4-3 in a State ‘A’ division league match at the Football Stadium here on Friday. Vikram (84th) also scored for the victor while Dinesh scored a brace and Johnson struck in the 21st minute for SWRI.

Later in a Super division league match, LRDE defeated Oriental 3-2. Saravana Junior, Satish and Venkat scored for LRDE while Emulraj and Arul found the target for Oriental.

Thursday’s matches: Super-division: SAI bt Southern Blues 3-1; ‘A’ division: RBI drew with Universal 3-3.

BSNL made to sweat

BSNL prevailed over ITI Sports Club in five sets at 25-17, 22-25, 18-25, 25-19,15-12 in a hard-fought State ‘A’ division volleyball league encounter, which lasted 80 minutes at the Lal Bahadur Shastri College courts here on Friday. In another tie, South Western Railway defeated Jindal Steel Works 25-19, 25-18, 25-20.

Easy for Duncan

Duncan Mackenzie defeated Balaji Reddy 512-277 in a State-ranking billiards second leg league match at the KSBA Hall here on Friday.
