KUMBAKONAM: State Commercial Taxes Minister S. N. M. Ubayathullah distributed awards to the best achievers in the field of education at a function organised by Mahatma Gandhi Public Welfare Association at Town Higher Secondary School here recently.

Chief Education Officer A. S. Radhakrishnan; M. Selvasekaran, Assistant Head Master, the Crescent Higher Secondary School, Avaniapuram; P. Soundarajan, Headmaster, Town Higher Secondary School, Kumbakonam; and M. L. X. Nallapparaj, Headmaster, Government Higher Secondary School, Melaulur, received the awards.
Rs 90 lakh allotted
The Minister described teachers as important milestones in the life of students. He allotted Rs. 90 lakh from his (MLA’s) local area development fund for taking up various projects in schools.
CEO’s target
Dr. Radhakrishnan said that his aim was to bring Thanjavur district in the first three places in the coming tenth and twelfth standard examinations.
