BANGALORE: The Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) of Mysore will screen Kannada documentaries produced by it in Bangalore from November 12 to 15. Produced under the programme, “Bhasha Mandakini”, the film series aims at introducing Kannada to the world. The CIIL has produced 120 documentaries in Kannada and the target is to produce 1,000 films on other Indian languages under “Bhasha Mandakini”. According to a press release from Lingadevaru Halemane, head, Education Technology and Media Studies, CIIL, Kannada films have been subtitled in English. The films have been developed on the lines of visual encyclopaedia. The films to be screened at Badami House in Bangalore include Pampa, Kuvempu, Bendre and Gopalakrishna Adiga on November 12. Kannadiga – the people and their antiquity, Traditional costumes of coastal Karnataka, Geological wonders of Karnataka, and Janapada Vaidyopacharagalu on November 13. Gulburga Kannada, personal names of Karnataka, Traditional food storage systems, and Forts of Karnataka on November 14. Manteswamy, Kannada films – beginning to 1954, V.O. Chidambaram Pillai (Tamil), and Makers of Bangla literature - Upendra Kishore and Roy Chaudhury (Bengali) on November 15. The films will be screened between 5.30 p.m. and 8 p.m.
