Power Minister appreciates the work done by Delhi Transco

NEW DELHI: Finance and Power Minister A.K. Walia has announced a Rs.5,100 incentive on Diwali for employees of Delhi Transco Limited, Pragati Power Corporation Limited and Indraprastha Power Generation Company Limited.

Making the announcement, Dr. Walia appreciated the work put in by Delhi Transco towards achieving its targets. This, he said, had been made possible by dedicated and sincere efforts of its employees.

The Minister said the power transmission losses in the city had been brought down from 3.84 per cent in 2002-03 to 0.72 per cent in 2006-07 resulting in a profit of Rs.168 crore.

Pragati Power Corporation, he added, had recorded a profit of about Rs.118 crore during 2006-07 and paid Rs.21.97 crore as dividend to the Delhi Government.

Dr. Walia said the representatives of the employees of these companies had been assured that a reasonable amount would be distributed among the employees keeping in view their performance and the announcement of cash incentive now was a fulfilment of that assurance.
