Meet on control instrumentation

Staff Correspondent

Manipal: Vice-Chancellor of Manipal University Rajasekharan P. Warrier said on Friday that it was necessary for instrumentation and control engineers to develop user-friendly systems.

He was speaking at the inaugural function of the fourth National Control Instrumentation Systems Conference (CISCON) organised by the Manipal Institute of Technology here. The conference is sponsored by the All-India Council for Technical Education.

Prof. Warrier said that although some systems shown in Hollywood movies appeared to be a fantasy, there was a possibility that they could be developed in future. “There has been tremendous progress in the field of control instrumentation systems. The automobile industry in the U.S. has made full use of state-of-the-art systems, which have made some vehicles very user friendly,” he said.

R.S.D. Wahida Banu, Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Government College of Engineering, Salem, said that any system should pass the tests of survival, stability, success, and superiority. It should give a sustained output. Ultimately, all engineers were working for providing a painless life, she said.

Convener of the conference G. Sarvanakumar welcomed the gathering.
