Rotarians adopt village for its overall development

PERAMBALUR: Rotary Club of Perambalur has adopted Vellanoor village in Puthunaduvalur village panchayat for implementing various projects of the club for its overall development.

At a function organised in this connection in the village recently, Andimuthu Sinnapillai Trust Managing Trustee A. Kaliaperumal spoke in length on the need for social welfare organisations like the Rotary clubs in launching projects for creating basic amenities in the villages.

Rotary Club of Perambalur president D. Ramesh said that his club has proposed to implement projects for better sanitation facilities, protecting the environment, increasing the forest cover, good drainage system, and improving the road and transport facility and the condition of the water sources. Besides, the club would also assist needy students for pursuing higher education and conduct awareness and medical camps. Project chairman J. Aravindan and Rotary Club secretary J. Karthik, village panchayat president Annadurai, and Rotaract coordinators at Thanthai Hans Roever College G. Ravi and Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan College for Women Sengamalam spoke. Union chairman K. Periasamy and Deputy Collector Raju inaugurated the work on desilting the local pond.
