MADURAI: Officials of the Fisheries Department at Rameswaram in Ramanathapuram district are probing into allegations that some local fishermen sold diesel at mid-sea to suspected Sea Tigers attached to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.
According to sources, some fishermen allegedly sold about 1,000 litres diesel to the Sea Tigers on Thursday. “Stern action will be taken against them if they are found guilty of selling fuel.
Steps will also be taken to stop the supply of diesel at subsidised price to them,” an official said.
