‘Mobilise world opinion’
ISLAMABAD: Chairperson of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan Asma Jahangir, who has been placed under house arrest by the Pakistan government, has called for mobilising world public opinion in favour of the judges and lawyers. Ms. Jahangir, who is also the United Nations Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief, said the Musharraf government declared martial law to settle scores with lawyers and judges.“While terrorists remain on the loose ... senior lawyers are being tortured,” she said.
