Accused had purchased tickets from a KSRTC franchisee A sum of Rs. 5,100 was recovered from him BANGALORE: A vigilance squad of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) apprehended a man who had allegedly been selling KSRTC tickets at a premium during the festival rush on Wednesday. The KSRTC gave the name of the person as Akram Pasha, a resident of Mangammana Palya. A sum of Rs. 5,100 was recovered from him. He was handed over to the Madiwala police. In a release, KSRTC Director (Security and Vigilance) M.A. Saleem said following complaints of KSRTC tickets being sold in the black market, the corporation set up a decoy. One of the corporation’s woman officers contacted a telephone number given by travel agents and sought four tickets for Kodaikanal for travel on Wednesday. While the original fare was Rs. 283, the person promising the ticket demanded Rs. 550 for one ticket. The woman officer was asked to come to Bommanahalli to collect the ticket. When she reached Bommanahalli and called a cellphone number given by the person, Pasha appeared, collected Rs. 2,200 and handed over the tickets. KSRTC Deputy Chief Vigilance Officer L. Jayaprakash and his team apprehended Pasha immediately. Mr. Saleem told The Hindu that the accused had purchased tickets from a KSRTC franchisee and attempted to resell them for a premium. Involvement of franchisees, if any, was also being investigated, he added.
