‘Nava Nad Utsav’

BANGALORE: Vamshi Academy of Music Trust, Rajajinagar, in association with Rotary Bangalore West, Malleswaram, is organising the Karthik Music Festival, 2007 to coincide with its ninth anniversary.

“Nava Nad Utsav” will be held from November 16, managing trustee B.K. Anantha Ram told presspersons here on Thursday.

The three-day programme will be held at Rotary Bangalore West’s Silver Jubilee Auditorium, 13th Cross, 4th Main, Malleswaram.

The inaugural day’s programme consists of a jugalbandi by M.S. Sheela and Sangeetha Katti Kulkarni and party. The second day’s programme on November 17 features a vocal and instrumental ensemble by students of the Vamshi Academy of Music Trust at 5 p.m. followed by a violin duet at 6 p.m. by Vidwan M. Nagaraj and M. Manjunath and party. The final day’s programme consists of a flute duet by B.K. Anantha Ram and Amith A. Nadig along with ‘Brush Strokes’, a painting programme by B.K.S Verma with a percussion ensemble, called “Vamshi-Kuncha Samagama”.

Noted personalities such as K.U. Jayachandra Rao, Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma, Vishwanath Nakod, Tumkur B. Ravishankar, M.A. Krishnamurthy, V. Sridar, Kartik S. Mani (percussion artistes) , Nalina Mohan and Umakanth Puranik are taking part in the music festival.

On the occasion the trust will confer the title “Gandharva Vamsha Samvardhaka” on Nagabhushan, Mysore Sangeetha Vidyalaya, Mumbai; “Gandharva Vamsha Nidhi” on o Mysore M. Nagaraj, violinist; “Vamshi Puraskar” on Mahesh Joshi, director, Bangalore Doordarshan and G. Tulasiram Naidu, managing director, Lahari Recording Co., Bangalore.

The festival will be inaugurated by M.R. Seetharam, MLA.
