MAHABUBNAGAR: Mallu Ravi, State’s special representative in New Delhi, advised leaders and elected representatives of SC, ST communities to maintain restraint while levelling allegations against Government officials as it demoralises the entire district administration. Speaking to mediapersons here at DCC office on Saturday, Mr. Ravi said that levelling charges against officials holding important positions without sufficient proof or base jeopardises the task of executing welfare activities launched by the Government for the betterment of SCs and STs. Mallu Ravi made these comments against the backdrop of some Scheduled Tribe organisations demanding arrest of district Collector V. Usha Rani under SC, ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act of 1980. It is alleged that the Collector recently abused some Lambada labourers when they approached her for payment of works done by them under APREGS. The social audit conducted by DWAMA, the implementing agency, revealed that the claim of Keshavapuram tanda lambadas for payment of wages is false as list of the labourers claiming wages contain over forty benami names. Against this background, Mr. Ravi said district-level officials like district Collector should not be dragged into such controversies.
