Draft rolls available in village and taluk offices for verification Designated centres function on November 10 and 11 Thiruvananthapuram: The Election Department of Kerala has on the directions of the Election Commission of India launched the process of revising the electoral rolls of the Assembly constituencies with January 1, 2008, as the qualifying date. The draft photo electoral rolls are available in all village/ taluk offices and designated centres for verification by the public. All polling stations that functioned as designated centres on November 3 and 4 will function as designated centres on November 10 and 11 also from 9 a.m. to 6 pm. The applications for inclusion, deletion and modification can be submitted at these centres. The petitions on draft voters list and new applications for including name in the voters list will be accepted in the village/taluk offices in all districts up to November 21. The application for deletion of names of the dead and those who have changed residence can be submitted by any person who figures in the electoral roll. Each voter should ensure that his or her photograph is included in the draft electoral roll. Those whose photographs have not been included or wrongly included in the electoral roll are to approach the tahsildar concerned with their EPIC. Even though they have received the EPIC, if they change their residence their name will be removed from the electoral roll. They are to apply for inclusion with new address. In such applications, their EPIC number and old address should be indicated. Holding of the EPIC is not a claim for having their name in the electoral roll and each elector has to verify and ensure that his or her name is included in the electoral roll. The application forms for inclusion/ deletion/ modification can be had free from all taluk/ village offices/ designated centres and their use is as follows: Form 6 for inclusion of name in fresh and including of name from one constituency to another. Form 7, deletion of name from the voters’ list. Form 8, for correction in the voters’ list. Form 8 A, for transposition of entry in any other part of the roll of the same constituency. The Election Department said that the inclusion of name in more than on constituency or for roll is a punishable offence under the law.
