BSNL, KSEB win titles

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BSNL and KSEB won the men’s and women’s titles respectively in the Thiruvananthapuram district ‘A’ division basketball league at the Central Stadium here on Saturday.

BSNL overcame KSEB 69-59 to win the men’s title while KSEB women downed surprise-finalist G.V. Raja Sports School 46-24 in the final. G.V. Raja girls put up a commendable show in the semifinals by defeating LNCPE 83-74 in a match which went fives times into extra time.

The results: Men (Final): BSNL 69 (Bobit Mathew 18, Vijobi Vakkachan 18, Mansoor Ahmed 15) bt KSEB 59 (R.Manoj 17, Monish Wilson 15). Semifinal: BSNL 85 (Rahul Krishnan 26, Mansoor Ahmed 22, Vijobi Vakkachan 21) bt Nets Club 55 (Francis Assisi 25, Vinu Jerome 14)

Women (final): KSEB 46 (S.S.Anjana 12, Litty Mathew 11, Sonia Joseph 10) bt G.V. Raja Sports School 26 Semifinal: G.V.Raja 83 (Arya 23, Liji Sebastian 12) bt LNCPE 74 (Soumya 25, Sharika 19, Vidya 14).
