State urged to resume lands encroached

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The CPI State council has demanded that the Government take steps to resume lands encroached by vested interests in Hafeezpet area on the city outskirts and distribute them to poor.

CPI State secretary K. Narayana led a padayatra in the area on Saturday in support of the demand to stop encroachments on prime Government lands. Speaking on the occasion, he deplored the officials concerned for not acting on the people who illegally put up temporary constructions on the occupied lands despite assurances earlier.

Mines Minister Sabita Indra Reddy had convinced Dr. Narayana to call off his hunger strike recently by promising steps to resume the encroached lands.
