THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Senior Citizens’ Friends Welfare Association has urged the government to complete the constitution of the State council and district-level councils mentioned in the State Policy for the Elderly. A press release quoting the association general secretary Amaravila Ramakrishnan Nair here said the government was yet to nominate representatives of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to the councils. The government order approving the policy for the elderly specifies the inclusion of six representatives of NGOs, including three women in the State council, with the Chief Minister as patron and Social Welfare Minister as chairperson. The order constituting the State council was issued in June this year but the panel is yet to get the representation of NGOs.
