Russia’s first earth Satellite, a 23-inch sphere launched on October 4, is beginning to come down, the official news agency Tass revealed on November 9. It said the Sputnik, whose maximum distance from the earth was at first 630 miles, now had a maximum distance of just over 500 miles.
