Auto driver’s honesty rewarded

CHENNAI: The city police have rewarded autorickshaw driver D. Govindaraju of Kolathur for his honesty.

According to a release, Heesairabanu hired his autorickshaw to Mylapore from T. Nagar on Friday. When she got off, she left behind her bag of valuables including jewellery.

To police chief

The 42-year-old autorickshaw driver took the polythene bag to the Police Commissioner’s office in Egmore.

Enquiries revealed that Heesairabanu had left for Tiruchi.

The bag was handed over to her family friend on her request.

Govindaraju was rewarded for his honesty by Police Commissioner G. Nanchil Kumaran, the release said.
