Book fair from December 17

PUDUCHERRY: The annual book fair will be held at Vel Sokkanathan Thirumana Nilayam on Vallalar Salai from December 17 . Around 80 leading publishers from across the country will participate in the 11th National Book Fair organised by the Puducherry Co-operative Book Society.

According to a press release from the society, more than 60,000 titles in Tamil, English, French, Hindi and those from other regional languages are expected this year.

There would be a special discount of 10 per cent on all purchases and special discount for large buyers such as educational institutions and libraries.

A discount of 25 per cent would be offered on select books.

Arrangements have been made for purchases through credit cards.

Some of the publishers expected to participate include Sri Ramakrishna Mutt, Sura Books, National Psychological Corporation, Agra, Isha Publications, Ananda Vikatan Publications, All India Tamil Writers Association and Publications Division of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The fair would be open on working days from 2 pm to 9 pm and on holidays and weekends from 11 am and 9pm. Each evening, quiz and cultural programmes would be conducted. The fair would go on till November 26.
