TIRUVANNAMALAI: Food Minister E.V. Velu distributed colour television sets to 550 families at a function held at Durgai Nammiyendhal panchayat in Thurinjapuram panchayat union in Tiruvannamalai district recently.
Mr. Velu said the government had proposed to distribute 88,500 TV sets in Tiruvannamalai district. So far, 83,119 families had got them. Out of the 9,000 TV sets allotted to Kalasapakkam constituency, 8535 families had received the sets. T. Venugopal, Tirupattur MP presided.
V.P. Annamalai, chairman, Thurinjapuram panchayat union, M.P. Giri, chairman, Tiruvannamalai District Panchayat, R.D. Sampath, chairman of the District Agricultural Market Committee, R. Sridharan, chairman, Tiruvannamalai Municipality, and Savalpoondi Sundaresan, chairman of the Federation of Village Panchayats, spoke.
