Apologise for remarks, Shivakumar told

Staff Correspondent

People should desist from making wild allegations, says BJP leader

DAVANGERE: The Davangere city unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has resented the remarks of Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar against BJP leader H.N. Ananth Kumar and said that that if he failed to apologise within the next two days, it would launch an agitation.

Speaking to presspersons here on Sunday, H.N. Shivakumar, president of the Davangere city unit of the BJP and M.G. Bakkesh, councillor, said that people were free to express their views in a democratic set-up, but they should not make wild allegations.

Mr. Ananth Kumar had stated that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were not descendants of Mahatma Gandhi, as most people were given to believe.

They said and that if Congress leaders found the statement of the BJP leader incorrect, they should substantiate their claim by offering adequate proof in this regard.

Truth

Instead, Mr. Shivakumar had chosen to make defamatory statements without being able to accept the truth.

A large number of Bharatiya Janata Party workers, including office-bearers of the city and district party units, along with councillors of the Davangere City Corporation would take part in the oath-taking ceremony in Bangalore on Monday, in which BJP leader B.S. Yeddyurappa will be sworn in as Chief Minister.
