Moily to unveil Indira Gandhi’s statue

HYDERABAD: Congress Working Committee member and AICC general secretary Veerappa Moily will unveil the 12-ft bronze statue of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 90th birth anniversary on November 19 near Shilaparamam.

Congress MLAs P. Janardhan Reddy and Marri Sashidhar Reddy told reporters on Sunday that Mr. Moily had given the consent to unveil the statue. Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy will participate in the function and address a public meeting.

The statue will be installed at the rotary junction in front of Shilparamam near Hitex city. “We had approached the Chief Minister seeking permission to install the statue at Necklace Road junction,” Mr. Janardhan Reddy said.

“However, the Chief Minister informed had us that the Government had already ordered for an 18-feet statue to be installed at the junction,” he said.
