Elephants destroy sugarcane crop

Bijnor: A herd of wild elephants from the hills of Uttarakhand destroyed the sugarcane fields of village One Bitol falling in the Sahu Wala range of reserve forest area in the district. The large herd consisting of about 30-35 elephants came down the hills on Saturday night and created havoc in the sugar cane fields destroying the standing cane crop in about 35 bighas of land. The villagers are now demanding compensation for the losses.
