NEW DELHI: As the countdown for the 27th edition of the annual “India International Trade Fair” begins, visitors can look forward to a wide array of products and cuisine from across the country and even abroad for two consecutive weeks. According to India Trade Promotion Organisation’s senior general manager Safdar H. Khan, special cooks are being flown in from Afghanistan and Pakistan to prepare lip-smacking delicacies for visitors throughout the fortnight-long fair. “There is confirmation from these two countries. Furthermore, Pakistan’s Minister of State Tariq Ikram is coming for the inauguration of the fair at Hamsadhwani Theatre by President Pratibha Patil on November 14,” he added. Ms. Patil will be given a grand welcome as soon as she descends on the sprawling exhibition ground at Pragati Maidan. “While students from New Era School, Okhla, will release balloons at the arrival of Ms. Patil, about 20 students from Mother’s Pride will wave the national tri-colour and sing songs,” said Khan. A network of 13 touch-screen kiosks are being installed at different locations to provide fair-related information to visitors. Since the fair intends to give a fillip to trade, the overseas visitors will have complete access to avail themselves of facilities such as travel desk, foreign exchange counter, cyber café, arrangements for business meetings at the international business lounge.
