ASI may allow construction activities near monuments

New Delhi: If things go according to their way, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) may soon allow construction activities near protected monuments across the country. The rules prohibiting these activities are likely to be amended as the ASI is finalising the draft to be submitted to the ministry of culture. Currently, construction activities are not allowed within a 100-metre radius of protected monuments. These activities are regulated in further 200 metres near the monuments. There are about 3,667 protected monuments in the country .
