A 32- year- old man, an administrative head of a firm in Tiruchi was working overtime because of a tight schedule and stiff targets to achieve. At the end of a tiring day, he came to know that his father who was living in Coimbatore was admitted with a heart ailment in a hospital. He rushed to Coimbatore along with his family in his car. He drove the vehicle as the driver had left by then. He told his wife near Karur that he was feeling sleepy. He fell asleep and the vehic le collided with a truck between Kangayam and Palladam.

Result:

The man suffered four fractures and required surgery. Chest injury for wife with intensive care admission for 14 days. Severe crush injury of the left leg for daughter and it had to be amputated.

Incident:

After attending a wedding and having a heavy meal, a 48-year-old woman lawyer and her family drove back to Coimbatore on a highway.

Her husband fell asleep while driving the car and this resulted in a head-on collision with a bus.

Result:

The woman’s 11-year-old daughter died on the spot. Husband had only minor injuries. But, the woman’s left leg had to be amputated and she went through intensive care treatment for 12 days.
