BHUBANESWAR: Showcasing almost all the versatile singers of Orissa besides the nationally acclaimed Rajan-Sajan Mishra duo, the 38th annual Puri ‘bhajan samaroh’ (devotional music festival) will be hosted at Puri on November 23. Being hosted by Shreekshetra Kala Prakasika, a cultural institution led by eminent musician-singer Mr. Prafulla Kar, the dusk-to-dawn musical night would be inaugurated by Orissa Governor Mr. M.C.Bhandare. Briefing the media about the event here on Sunday, Mr. Kar disclosed that legendary actress-dancer and former Member of Parliament Ms.Vaijayantimala Bali would be singing on the occasion. She would be honoured with the ‘Kala Ratnamala’ title on the occasion while the Mishra brothers would be conferred ’Sur Sangam’ title and tabla player Prasanna Mishra would receive the ’Badya Baridhi’ title. None of the artistes ever claimed any performance fee for performing in this unique event, it was learnt. Several well-known singers like Vani Jayaram and Aruradha Poudwal have performed in this event.
