Distributes mini kits for vegetable cultivation to farmers Inaugurates new building of police station at Hinjli
Taking a look: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik taking a look at the vegetable exhibition put up at the venue at Pochilima village of Hinjli block in Ganjam district on Sunday. BERHAMPUR: The Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik made a whirlwind tour of his constituency Hinjli and the city on Sunday. He was on a spree of inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremonies during this visit. He laid the foundation stone for the renovation of the Dakhinpur reservoir near the city to alleviate the perennial drinking water crisis in the city. It may be noted that drinking water scarcity usually plays a major role in city politics during elections. The city gets its quota of drinking water from the Dakhinpur drinking water project of British era and the Rushikulya drinking water project. With time the capacity of the Dakhinpur reservoir has got reduced due to silting. As per the Chief Minister after renovation this reservoir would have a water bearing capacity of 70 acres in contrast to its present capacity of 40 acres. The State Government has already sanctioned Rs. 3.19 crore for this project. The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Pochlima village near Hinjli, which would be established at a cost of more than Rs. 2 crore. Foundation stone of a similar ITI was also laid by him at Purushottampur under his constituency during his last visit to Ganjam district last week. He also distributed mini kits for vegetable cultivation to farmers of Pochlima area under the National Horticulture Mission and declared a sepcial grant of Rs.10 lakh for the village under Rashtriya Sam Vikash Yojana. He also visited an exhibition of vegetables produced by farmers of the area. Speaking to newsmen at Pochlima he said efforts are being made to utilise huge potential of youth resources in Ganjam district through technical education, agriculture and horticulture. Pattas distributedAt Hinjli he inaugurated the new building of the local police station and laid the foundation stone for a multipurpose play unit at the Biju Patnaik Children’s park. At the Hinjli tehsil office he distributed land pass books and patta to people.
