Handloom expo inaugurated

Wide variety: Kanimozhi, MP, at a handloom expo in Chennai.

CHENNAI: From rosewood furniture, jute products, Jaipur gift articles to fancy bags, Pattachitra paintings and embroidered dress materials, the handloom expo organised at Sri Sankara Hall, Alwarpet, provides an incredible choice to the visitors.

Inaugurated by Member of Parliament Kanimozhi, the exhibition-cum-sale features a range of products from across the country, including Kashmiri salwar kameez material and Chettinadu antiques. Customers may pick from the wide collection of handloom products available.

Madurai Sungudi saris, Lucknow chikan dress materials, Rajasthani phulkari churidhars and Venkatagiri handlooms are some of the varieties on display. Palm leaf engravings, Cora grass mats and bags from Banjara are also available.

The exhibition will be on till November 19.
