Campaign for kids with diabetes

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: A Deepavali carnival for children with diabetes turned out to be an occasion for them to learn more about insulin injections, dietary impact on blood glucose, and lifestyle modifications.

The day-long programme for children with diabetes was organised by Dr. A. Ramachandran’s Diabetes Hospitals, Egmore, at Ethiraj College to mark World Diabetes Day. The theme of this year’s campaign is “Diabetes in Children and Adolescents”.

About 60 children, accompanied by their families, participated in the event.

Film director Balu Mahendra released three pamphlets for children with Type 1 diabetes.

Actors Mounica, Vasanth and Nandakumar also interacted with the children.

A.Ramachandran, managing director and Shobana Ramachandran, joint managing director of the hospital, discussed various aspects of the disorder with the children. Prizes were given to winners of various competitions.
