All residents of panchayat in Pudukottai get TVs

Staff Reporter

PUDUKOTTAI: All residents of a panchayat in Pudukottai district benefited through the State Government’s ‘Free Colour Television set’ scheme on Sunday.

The Union Minister of State for Environment and Forests, S. Regupathy, distributed television sets to 214 persons of Madhayanaipatti panchayat near Viralimalai.

A near-similar situation prevailed at the neighbouring village of Marudampatti where only three of the total 221 families owned a television set. The Union Minister distributed television sets to all the 218 families. Mr. Regupathy said that Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi was fully aware of the economic backwardness of villagers like those in Madhayanaipatti and Marudampatti panchayats.
