MDMK to defy ban, hold rally

CHENNAI: Volunteers of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam will violate the ban imposed on organising a rally to mourn the death of LTTE political division chief Thamilchelvan in Chennai on Monday, party general secretary Vaiko said here on Sunday.

In a statement here, Mr. Vaiko criticised the State Government for not giving permission for organising the rally, which he said was against the interest of Tamils in Sri Lanka.

As announced by P. Nedumaran, coordinator of the Tamil Eelam supporters, the party would take out the rally along with other Eelam supporters despite the ban.
