Vejmelka dashes Ashutosh’s hopes

NEW DELHI: The top-seeded Adam Vejmelka of the Czech Republic defeated the second-seeded Ashutosh Singh 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(6) in the final of the $10,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament at Lahore on Saturday.

This was the second final loss for the National champion Ashutosh who was also beaten by Chinese Davis Cup player Sun Peng in Delhi recently.

Ashutosh had earlier won the doubles final along with Vivek Shokeen, beating Vejmelka and Bogdan-Victor Leonte of Romania.
