CHENNAI: Volunteers of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam will stage demonstrations in nine district headquarters on November 19, urging the State Government to clear sugarcane arrears to the tune of Rs.250 crore due to farmers and announce a better price for sugarcane for the current year.
Party general secretary Jayalalithaa, in a statement here on Sunday, said about 25 lakh cane farmers in the State were affected due to “ faulty procurement price” of the Government. It also failed to get a better price for molasses in the open market, which was being sold at a lesser price compared to other states.
