dated November 13, 1957: Indo-Vietnam ties

The South Vietnam Government expressed the opinion in a communiqué issued in Saigon on November 11 that India and Vietnam were close to each other. The communiqué, released on the occasion of President Ngo Dinh Diem’s return to Saigon after a five-day state visit to India, said: “The talks between President Ngo Dinh Diem and Prime Minister Nehru have shown how much India and Vietnam, through their parallel efforts to build a free, peaceful and progressive society within the continued Asian tradition, are close to each other, because of their objectives as well as their manner of approaching the problem of developing their respective democracies.”
