This Day That Age
A capacity audience of Madras music lovers applauded Miss Marian Anderson on November 11 when the famous American singer gave her first concert in this country at the Annamalai Hall in Madras. In a voice deep in feeling and richness, Miss Anderson went through a well-balanced repertoire including Negro spirituals, German and American selections. Her rendition of the classical pieces by Haydn, Brahms and Schubert was much appreciated. She acceded to a request from the audience for “Ave Maria,” at the end of the concert.
