Focus on collective effort

KORAPUT: “We, the public servants of India, do hereby solemnly pledge that we shall continuously strive to bring about integrity and transparency in all spheres of our activities.” The 7th Vigilance Awareness Week was inaugurated with this pledge, led by D.N. Vyas, Executive Director of the Engine Division of HAL at Sunabeda, on Monday.

Speaking to the participants who gathered from different sections of society, he said the collective aspiration and efforts beginning at the personal level could bring a time to celebrate victory over corruption in society.

Whenever situations in the life compel to deviate from the normal rules and regulations, the decisions taken should aim at a larger interest rather than confining to the self, he said.

While emphasising on the need to minimise the personal needs to bring down the level of corruption, he told that the real prevention should come from within rather than expecting some outer impulse like rules and regulations to bring a change in society.

J.K. Mahapatra, General Manager of the plant complemented the efforts by the company’s vigilance department Among others V. Balakrishnan, Chief of Project, SU-30 project, Major B.C. Mishra, HOD, Vigilance Department, also spoke.
